Philanthropy at St. Gabriel's & St. Michael's

Within a strong culture of philanthropy, our community must unite in support of our children. Your gift of financial support ensures St. Gabriel’s ability to fulfill its mission to educate students in an enriched Christ-centered environment that fosters character formation through scholastic excellence and physical, emotional, and spiritual growth. There are several ways to give philanthropically throughout the school year, which you can read more about below.

  • Operation 10-4 Annual Fund

Thank you for making St. Gabriel’s Catholic School a priority for your family’s philanthropy!

Each year, donations to the annual fund enhance the education and character development of St. Gabriel’s and St. Michael's students. Tuition covers only the foundational cost of educating our students, and the Operation 10-4 Annual Fund provides the resources that make a St. Gabriel’s education truly exceptional. Parents, grandparents, alumni and friends of the school invest annually in the current generation of students through their donations. These funds sustain our mission and advance every educational and spiritual program at the school.

Gifts to the annual fund enable the school to employ the best practices in teaching and learning, and empower our students to reach their full potential. Our students' strong academic foundation encourages honest self-expression, critical thinking skills, and a life-long love of learning. Furthermore, with the support of our dedicated faculty and staff, students have countless opportunities to cultivate leadership skills and moral fortitude. They become inspired by a commitment to honor, integrity, and social responsibility through meaningful service to others.

  • Investing In Our Future

An endowment is the greatest indicator of our school’s financial health because an endowment provides continuous income, ensuring our mission thrives in perpetuity. Endowment gifts of all sizes make an everlasting impact as they support the areas of greatest need each year. Additionally, gifts of $50,000 establish a named endowment, and may be restricted to a specific purpose at a donor’s choosing. Learn more about leaving your legacy through an endowment gift.
  • Planned Giving

A planned gift to St. Gabriel’s enables you to make a lasting contribution to the school you love - a significant donation that will have an impact beyond your lifetime. Planned gifts and bequests provide the opportunity to make a difference at St. Gabriel’s while first providing for your financial security during your lifetime and for the needs of your family. Other types of planned gifts can provide you with lifetime income, while also helping you realize meaningful tax savings. We suggest you consult your attorney or financial advisor when making a planned gift of any type.
  • Matching Gifts

Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will do the rest. The impact of your gift to St. Gabriel's Catholic School may be doubled or possibly tripled! Some companies even match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.

"SGCS works to educate the mind, nourish the spirit, and create the character to navigate the world in a way that follows the teachings of Christ and is in step with the values we want to pass on to our son. We see the real time impact of a St. Gabriel's education." - Craig McMahen & Kristen Ahrens McMahen, Parents of Caden

Your Gifts At Work

Building Layers of Knowledge Through Curriculum

St. Gabriel’s adopted the Wit & Wisdom curriculum, a challenging text-based approach to reading instruction, which allows students to build strong reading and critical thinking skills. Students build and express understanding and vocabulary through a variety of writing constructs. Wit & Wisdom helps students develop the knowledge and skills they need to be critical thinkers and effective communicators.

Meeting the Unique Needs of Every Child

St. Gabriel’s believes deeply in differentiated learning, a type of instruction that is responsive to the learning needs and development of each student. To this end, we began to incorporate an approach to enrichment called the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM). We collaborated with the College of William and Mary’s Center for Gifted Education in the Summer of 2021 to enhance teacher efficacy in the SEM approach as well as plan intentionally for the upcoming school year. It is delightful to see this approach in action in each of our classrooms this year!

Onward, Together

A St. Gabriel’s student's education is a defining experience designed to bring out the best in them. Every day our Sabers encounter “aha” moments that open a new way of thinking, a new passion, a new sense of self, or a new way of connecting to others. Your generous donations to the St. Gabriel’s Fund, strategic campaigns, and permanent endowments help continue the tradition of excellence now and for the future.
