  • Q. What does St. Gabriel’s look for in an applicant?

    We strive for diversity and inclusion at St. Gabriel’s, and our Admission Committee evaluates applications based on each child’s potential to succeed in our school’s unique and challenging educational environment. The Committee also considers the student’s and parents’ ability to commit to an environment rooted in Christian values. 
  • Q. How do I submit an application, and when is the deadline?

    The first step in starting the admission process is to complete our inquiry form.

    Our priority deadline for admission is January 24, 2020. Applications will be considered after the priority deadline on a rolling basis and as space permits.
  • Q. What age must students be to begin the Pre-Kindergarten program?

    Students must be four years old on or before September 1st of the school year for which they are applying.
  • Q. What age must students be to begin Kindergarten?

    Students must be five years old on or before September 1st of the school year for which they are applying.
  • Q. How do I schedule a campus visit?

    We invite prospective families to visit our campus during Open Houses (November, January, and April) and throughout the year. Families are always welcome to join us for weekly Mass and other school-related activities to become better acquainted with our school community. 
  • Q. Where is your campus located?

    St. Gabriel’s Catholic School is located in Southwest Austin at 2500 Wimberley Lane, Austin TX 78735. Visit our map for directions to our campus.
  • Q. What is a "Shadow Visit," and how do I schedule a visit for my student?

    Shadow visits offer opportunities for prospective students from first to eighth grade to experience a typical day at St. Gabriel’s. Students will shadow a class at his or her grade level to meet other students and participate in classroom activities. Once we receive your application, we will contact you to schedule a shadow visit. 
  • Q. What is the purpose of the scheduled playgroup appointments for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten?

    Our staff will schedule a play group appointment for Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten students so we can observe their social interactions with other children and get to know their personalities. Play group appointments are similar to shadow visits and allow prospective students to become comfortable with our school. 
  • Q. How do I learn more about the curriculum for each grade?

    We encourage you to pick up a copy of our grade-level curriculum from the St. Gabriel’s Admissions Office. We are happy to answer specific questions about curriculum during campus tours and classroom visits as well. 
  • Q. Does St. Gabriel’s require testing for admissions?

    Yes, entrance examinations are required for first- through eighth-grade students. Developmental readiness assessments are required for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students. Please review our application checklist  to learn more about what is required for your child’s specific grade. Entrance examinations and assessments are only one measure of an applicant’s success and are used in conjunction with other admission information
  • Q. Does St. Gabriel's accept international students?

    St. Gabriel's Catholic School is a Student Exchange and Visitor Program (SEVP) approved school. We are authorized to issue the I-20 forms to our international students so that they may obtain their F-1 student visa.
