Daniela Alvarez, Class of 2013

Wesleyan University
As a premier student-athlete at Wesleyan University, Daniela Alvarez is setting out to be a physician that can make a difference in her community.

Daniela knew she wanted to play collegiate tennis and also wanted to study medicine at an elite university from a young age; now she is doing just that! Daniela was a former State finalist in the TAPPS tennis tournament, and received the student-athlete awards given out by TAPPS. She now balances a double major in French and Neuroscience at Wesleyan with competing on her university’s tennis team. She recently won the ITA scholar-athlete award given to individuals that maintain a high grade point average while earning a varsity letter.

As if that wasn’t enough, she plans to study abroad next semester in Paris and has ambitions to volunteer in an under-privileged community this summer. Daniela, who was first given the opportunity to serve her community during her time and Saint Gabriel's Catholic School, reflects saying that SGCS helped her realize that “volunteering is very fulfilling. It helps you as a person grow, and it helps the people.”

Daniela would advise any new SGCS parent that Saint Gabriel’s will teach their children “how to give back to the community, believe in themselves, and form lasting friendships.”
