DAN MCKENNA: Head of School

 

Dan McKenna is Head of School at St. Gabriel’s Catholic School. Dan has been a part of the St. Gabriel’s family since 2013. Dan is passionate about helping children to develop not only their minds, but also their character.

 

Before coming to St. Gabriel’s in 2013, Dan was principal at St. Francis Xavier School in Wilmette, IL. He is a graduate of Marquette University (BA) and Loyola University (M.Ed.).  Besides his work in education, Dan is an active supporter of Catholic Extension, a non-profit organization that supports the needs of Catholics in the most under-resourced regions of the United States, and is a board member of Katelle, an Austin-based non-profit dedicated to implementing a curriculum of kindness in schools. 

 

Dan grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and has worked in the field of education for 18 years. When he is away from St. Gabriel’s, you’ll find him seeking out the best deep-dish pizza Austin has to offer, planning a vacation in Wisconsin, reading, or spending time with his wife, two children, and Max the dog.
