YOLANDA MCELHANEY: Pre-K 4, Math, Religion, and Science
Yolanda McElhaney is St. Gabriel’s Catholic School’s Pre-K 4 Math, Religion, and Science teacher. She joined the St. Gabriel’s family in 2013. Yolanda is passionate about helping children learn, and perhaps more importantly, learning to love learning. She is inspired by watching the proverbial light bulb come on over a child’s head when they master a new skill.
Yolanda has been teaching for the last 6 years, after earning two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Sam Houston State University (Criminal Justice and Spanish) and her Master’s degree in Elementary Education, specializing in bilingual education, from Texas State University.
Yolanda has spent the majority of her life in central Texas, growing up in Lockhart and Buda. In her spare time, she enjoys shopping, going to the movies, and eating a Chick-fil-a Spicy Southwest Salad with her friend, playing with her German shepherd named Duke, or playing board games with her three young sons (Mark, Mason, and Miles) and husband of 11 years.
