Our students learn by doing good for others through service learning, a rich educational experience that combines academics with public service. Through meaningful age-appropriate service opportunities, students develop positive relationships with local organizations while addressing community needs.
The entire St. Gabriel’s school community in Austin, TX participates in service learning projects, including an annual food drive, Coats for Kids, and tending the school garden. Middle school students collaborate with the elderly at local retirement homes, work with ELL students from local elementary schools, and support the homeless through Mobile Loaves and Fishes.
While they plan and implement activities, students develop a respect for people with diverse needs and undergo reflection and prayer about their relationships with society.
