Construction Update #07
This month, the SGCS Artsand Media Addition and Renovation project team completed a major milestone on the addition scope; the building structure is now 100% complete after concluding the pours of the elevated concrete decks (levels 1 and 2), and the concrete slab-on-grade (lower level). This milestone initiated the timely start of a number of other significant activities including hanging ductwork, installing domestic water pipe, electrical conduit, roof drains, and exterior wall framing. In addition, the site utility contractor completed the underground storm drains, the domestic water and fire sprinkler service lines.
With school out this month, our demolition and renovation contractors fully mobilized to perform work on the new cafeteria, kitchen, lobby, and public restrooms in the existing building. After demolishing the existing interior walls and ceilings, we proceeded with mechanical and electrical rough-ins, and under slab plumbing for the kitchen. We also finalized framing soffits above the new reception desk, framing for the new stage, and installing structural steel supports for the new basketball goals.
