Saber Summer Camps

The d.lab for Making at SGCS is the state-of-the-art, first-of-its-kind makerspace in Central Texas where our maker education curriculum empowers students by creating opportunities to shape and influence the world around them. This program allows for experiential learning with an emphasis on innovation, solution-seeking, and collaboration.

And now, it’s available to all Central Texas students over the summer.

Each week, campers will face new and different challenges to solve while growing in imagination and creativity, building confidence, and learning important lessons about perseverance and resilience. Campers will be grouped by grade level to ensure activities are age-appropriate, fun, and stimulating. Full-day extended care is available for both morning and afternoon offerings of our STEAM camps by registering for Saber Kids Camp! 

PK-1st Grade | 2nd Grade - 4th Grade | 5th Grade - 8th Grade
Dates: June 6 through July 22 (no camp week of July 4)

Monday - Friday
8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Saber Kids Camp is available from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

Afternoon STEAM Camps
Monday - Friday
1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Camping Adventures in STEAM
Summer camping isn’t just for the outdoors! Don’t miss this exciting adventure in St. Gabriel’s d.lab for Making! Through an ingenuitive curriculum and engaging activities, campers will engage in various STEAM projects, igniting imagination and creativity in an inventive workspace, allowing for hands-on and open-ended learning. The d.lab for Making at SGCS is the first-of-its-kind Makerspace in Central Texas inspiring students to create as well as solve real-world challenges through a Project-based learning framework, coupled with Design Thinking. Join us and see for yourself how much fun camping adventures can be when you are creating, making, and exploring! All camp activities are age-appropriate and differ based on the camper age group. 


STEAM in Space
Are you ready for an “out of this world” adventure? Campers will launch into fun and educational activities, strengthening their awareness of outer space, sparking their creativity, and inspiring discovery and exploration of the universe! While utilizing our d.lab, a state-of-the-art makerspace, campers will connect with the galaxy in an innovative, collaborative, experimental workspace to allow for energetic and unrestricted learning. The d.lab for Making at SGCS is the first-of-its-kind Makerspace in Central Texas, inspiring students to create as well as solve real-world challenges through a project-based learning framework, coupled with Design Thinking. All camp activities are age-appropriate and differ based on the camper age group. 


Putting the Arts in STEAM
In the SGCS d.lab for Making, this art-based STEAM camp explores the symbiotic relationship between art and STEM subjects. Hands-on art projects inspire campers to creatively investigate the challenging core subjects of science, technology, engineering, and math. Through this unique art-centered lens, STEM subjects become more approachable and understandable for students. The d.lab for Making at SGCS is the first-of-its-kind Makerspace in Central Texas, inspiring students to create as well as solve real-world challenges through a project-based learning framework, coupled with Design Thinking. All camp activities are age-appropriate and differ based on the camper age group. 


Knights of STEAM
Let’s voyage into medieval times by blending STEAM with history in this unique summer experience; a spectacular adventure awaits! With majestic quests and epic explorations, this camp focusing on the past will catapult imaginations into the future! The d.lab for Making at SGCS is the first-of-its-kind Makerspace in Central Texas inspiring students to create as well as solve real-world challenges through a project-based learning framework, coupled with Design Thinking. All camp activities are age-appropriate and differ based on the camper age group. 


Ready, Set, STEAM!
Racers, start your engines! Campers won’t want to miss this exciting week of designing and executing the countless aspects of the racing industry! While discovering the intricacies of race car engineering and construction, campers will also explore the important aspects of building a safe and engaging track and the attention to detail it takes to pull off a thrilling race! Age-appropriate and hands-on learning projects will take place in the SGCS state-of-the-art d.lab for Making. The d.lab for Making at SGCS is the first-of-its-kind Makerspace in Central Texas, inspiring students to create as well as solve real-world challenges through a project-based learning framework, coupled with Design Thinking. All camp activities are age-appropriate and differ based on the camper age group. 


STEAM Music Makers!
Experiment with volume, pitch, and tune by creating a variety of instruments in our one-of-a-kind d.lab. The art of music consists of a strong understanding of both science and math, and will never be more apparent and appreciated as campers stretch their imagination and design skills to achieve perfect sound and beautiful noise. Campers will construct handmade musical instruments in the d.lab, a creative and collaborative workspace, to allow for experimental and open-ended learning. The d.lab for Making at SGCS is the first-of-its-kind Makerspace in Central Texas, inspiring students to create as well as solve real-world challenges through a project-based learning framework, coupled with Design Thinking. All camp activities are age-appropriate and differ based on the camper age group. 


Academic Camps
It is common for students to experience the “summer slide” while on break and not regularly in the classroom. Gear Up for the 2022-2023 school year with our academic camps! Sharpen those pencils, ready your brain, and join us the week of July 25th. Gear Up for Math will take place from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and Gear Up for Writing will take place from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. 

Volunteer Opportunities
 
Calling all 7th - 12th graders looking for opportunities to volunteer! Our summer camp program will provide a fun and fast-paced environment that can count toward volunteer hours for scholarships, NHS/NJHS, Boy/Girl Scouts, etc. Please fill out this form in order to participate.
